Thames Valley FSB Lunch Meeting

On Friday 8th January, John met with the Thames Valley branch of the Federation of Small Businesses along with a number of businesspeople based in, and operational throughout, the Buckingham constituency.

The group met at The Bell in Winslow and discussed a wide range of issues over lunch. Attendees were given the opportunity to put questions to John; some chose to pose constituency-specific questions – for example, about the Buckinghamshire Buy with Confidence scheme – whilst others were more concerned about national issues such as regulations relating to electronic cigarettes and changes to The Insolvency Act.

Speaking after the meeting, John said:

“I have long been a supporter of the FSB; they provide invaluable support to businesspeople in my constituency and I am always keen to involve myself whenever possible.

“This month’ lunch meeting was, as always, most informative. My constituency is home to a large number of SMEs and it was great to engage with so many people who are not only passionate about developing their own businesses, but also about growing and maintaining our local economy.

“Buckingham, as a constituency, is fortunate enough to have a relatively low rate of unemployment compared with the national average. There is no doubt in my mind that the employment opportunities offered by our county-wide network of small businesses play a significant role in maintaining such a low rate.”
