John Bercow visits Ercol factory

Ercol Furniture played host to an important guest on Friday 11th November. Mr Bercow, MP for Buckingham and Speaker of the House of Commons, visited Ercol’s headquarters in Princes Risborough to see the factory’s state-of-the-art facilities.

John Bercow MP has nominated Ercol as his chosen manufacturer in his constituency of Buckingham for the ‘Made by Britain’ campaign. This initiative, launched in July by Business Secretary Vince Cable, aims to promote British manufacturers from every corner of the UK. Mr Bercow, who has visited the factory once before, toured the different areas within the facilities. Ercol Chairman Edward Tadros showed Mr Bercow firsthand the various manufacturing stages including wood cutting, steam bending wood, sanding right through to upholstery and finally preparing and packaging the furniture ready for shipment.

John Bercow MP comments: ‘I thoroughly enjoyed visiting Ercol’s showroom and factory. I was tremendously impressed by the exceptional craftsmanship and skill that goes into designing and producing the furniture at Ercol.’

Edward Tadros adds: ‘We were honoured to welcome the John Bercow MP to the factory and were equally delighted by him choosing Ercol to represent the Buckingham constituency for the Made by Britain campaign. We have been making furniture in the UK for over 90 years, and employ 160 people, and take great pride in still being one of the main manufacturing employer’s in Buckinghamshire.’
