Buckingham Schools Help Africa

Buckingham schools have again taken part in the Schools for Africa project. The project, which encourages school students to fill shoe boxes of Christmas presents for schools in Africa, is organised in Buckingham by John Bercow.

John, pictured here collecting boxes from Buckingham Primary School, said, “This is the fourth year running that I have organised Schools for Africa in Buckingham. I was delighted to help collect the boxes from the schools and I was again struck by the generosity of all the participants. Buckingham’s schools should be enormously proud of renewed support they have given to some of Africa’s most vulnerable students.”

In October, staff and pupils from Wingrave, Macintyre and Oakley Schools joined John at the Schools for Africa Parliamentary Reception which was held in conjunction with the UN World Food Programme and the School Food Trust to mark World Food Day. There will be a limited number of places and I should be most grateful if you would confirm how many students and teachers you would like to bring as soon as possible. This year’s special guest is Portsmouth and England goalkeeper, David James, and it should be a really enjoyable day.

I should be very grateful if you would consider taking part in the scheme in 2009. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to let me know. I hope that we can work together on this worthwhile endeavour and I look forward to hearing from you.
