Bucks County Council this morning announced that Covanta Energy is to treat the county’s residual waste for the next 25 years. It will site an energy from waste facility near Stewartby in Bedfordshire.

John said, “I am relieved and heartened that the County Council has accepted the argument that to site a mass burn incineration facility in Aylesbury Vale would be entirely wrong. My only sadness about Bucks County Council’s decision is that such a facility should proceed anywhere when there are better alternatives. I pay tribute to the work of the Stop Aylesbury Vale Incineration campaign which has worked tirelessly to prevent the imposition of this unwanted burden and hazard.”
