Brackley Road Cemetery Decision “Unnecessary and Distressing”
John has written to Buckingham Town Council about its decision to write to the deed owners of graves with kerbing demanding that it be removed. The letter from the Council states that kerbing not removed before 1st April 2010 will be removed by the Town Council and the deed owners invoiced for the cost.
John has been contacted by a number of constituents who are extremely distressed about the tone of the letter and about the Town Council’s record of upkeep at the Cemetery since it took over the responsibility from AVDC in 2005.
John said, “This decision is unnecessary and distressing. I fully appreciate that Council resources are limited and it may be that the edging of these graves makes lawn mowing more difficult. It seems to me that that is an argument for the use of a strimmer, not for this heavy-handed approach. The upset my constituents have suffered could easily have been averted. I hope that a compromise can be reached.”
