Students Raise Concerns about “Irrational” Border Agency Rules

On 6th November, John met with students and staff at the University of Buckingham who are concerned about new immigration rules on foreign students applying to study in the UK. The students and staff raised a series of important points about the new regulations which they consider to be ill-defined, confusing and erratic.

John has raised the matter with the UK Border Agency and is pressing for an urgent response on the specific cases raised with him. He said, “Naturally people applying to come to the UK to study must have their applications closely scrutinized. It would be monstrous, however, if rules were introduced which were so rigorous that they actually put off prospective students from coming to study at excellent institutions like the University of Buckingham.”
