John Bercow responds to Winslow Green consultation
John Bercow has made a detailed written submission to Aylesbury Vale District Council urging its Development Control Division to reject the proposed development of 3,300 houses on the disused Little Horwood airfield site.
John said, “I was at the public meeting about Winslow Green on 5th February. Whilst I have always been very concerned about the proposed development, the strength of local feeling against the plans was brought home to me at that meeting and I intend to do all I can to support the protests. I do not oppose development in principle. However, the so-called Winslow Green development is not currently part of the Local Development Framework targets and we do not need it. The challenge for policy makers is precisely to ensure that we have sustainable development, i.e. manageable levels of new housing with the required infrastructure to support those levels.”
