John Bercow criticises Eco-Town Bill
John Bercow has criticised the rise in the cost of the Government’s eco-towns programme to £3 million. The proposed site at Weston Otmoor falls into the Banbury constituency but many Buckingham constituents will be affected.
John said, “I have received a large number of letters from my constituents who live near the Weston Otmoor site and who are very concerned about the impact of this development on the local infrastructure and environment. It is absolutely appalling that over £900,000 of this extortionate amount has been spent on PR and communications alone. I have always considered the Eco-Town programme to be eco-spin. This latest announcement only serves to underline that point.”
