John Meets Rev. Jesse Jackson
John was delighted to attend a parliamentary lunch last week with the civil rights activist and former candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, Jesse Jackson. The lunch was hosted by Chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee, Keith Vaz, and was part of a hectic schedule for Jesse Jackson which included meetings with Gordon Brown, the Foreign Secretary, David Miliband, and an evidence session on knife crime with the Select Committee.
John said, “I was thrilled to meet Rev Jesse Jackson who has played such a pivotal role in the civil rights movement. Rev. Jackson has some important things to tell us about getting more members of the ethnic minorities involved in politics and it was a pleasure to speak to him about the pressing issues that are facing community relations in the UK as well as the US”.
